Call for applications for the 2nd training program, ‘Hydrological Modeling and Data Analysis: Application of SWAT and Hydrological Indicators’

As a part of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Research Program and the Fulbright Specialist ProgramThe Small Earth Nepal (SEN) is going to organize the in-person 2nd training program entitled ‘SWAT Application for Hydrological Modeling’ by Dr. Soni M. Pradhanang, during 20 to 25 April, 2022 at the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (CDHM), Tribhuvan University (TU), Kirtipur. The first of the series was organized in 2013.

The program encourages the participation of young research students, particularly from the hydrological field in learning the in-depth concepts and principles of modeling and application in water resource management in the context of climate change and aims to empower them to apply model and finding of data for water resource management.

SEN is a non-governmental and non-profit organization (NGO) that has been conducting inclusive workshops, training, conferences, seminars, and community-driven projects targeting diverse groups such as women, local communities, youth including graduate students and early career professionals, to motivate and empower them with necessary skills and tools for both personal as well as professional development. Established in 2001, SEN is committed to achieving a balance in human-environment interactions through its Students-Teachers-Scientists (STS) network. This training program is a part of its capacity building of graduate students and early career professionals’ mission.

The program is designed for 20 (maximum) students and early career professionals active in the water resource management sector, especially those working with research/action-based projects on water resources management using open-access data and the application of GIS and RS for data analysis.

Prerequisites

Should have good knowledge of GIS, RS, and spatial hydrological data. Experience in Javascript is preferable.

 

Registration Fee: NPR. 3000/-

 

Program dates:  4 hours each day (9 am to 13 pm), 20, 21, 22, and 25 April 2022
