The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) in collaboration with Central Department of Environmental Science (CDES), Tribhuvan University and WWF Nepal Program organized field trip to Sundarijal Dhaap (Wetland) and awareness program on conservation of wetland with graduate and undergraduate students on 2 February 2012. The program was organized to sensitize graduate and undergraduate students on wetlands conservation, importance of wetlands ecosystem and eco-tourism and to motivate younger researchers and graduate students to carry out their research activities on wetlands conservation. The program was organized to celebrate world wetland day 2012.
Twenty graduate and undergraduate students from different colleges/universities have participated on the program. Along with field trip, wetland experts Mr. Ukesh Raj Bhuju, Co-ordinator of National College and Mr. Gyan Kumar Chippi Shrestha, Lecturer of Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University gave presentation on the importance of wetland, its conservation and possible research on wetland. During the program, students were made familiar about the various aspects of ecosystem values and services of wetlands. Students also participated on research study on ecosystem values and services of Sundarijal Dhaap. At the beginning of program, Mr. Piyush Dahal, Communication Officer of SEN, conducted a quiz contest for the students raising various questions related to wetlands of Nepal. The winners were awarded with various books and publications on wetland.
