The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) organized an in-house training on ‘Essentials of research proposal development’ by Dr. Pramod Kumar Jha (Professor Emeritus), and was attended by 12 participants. Prof. Jha led an insightful training on how to design and develop well-curated proposals. Prof. Jha served over 49 years in different capacities at University Grant Commission (UGC), Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Tribhuvan University (TU). He shared his experience in proposal evaluation, research, project management, and factors that influence the success of the proposal.
He shared his insights on writing a successful research proposal, including Dos and Don’ts for academic as well as professional proposals. He focused on the need for well-defined and updated scientific research methods, importance of articulating the significance, novelty of the research, need for a justifiable budget for all aspects of the research, importance of writing in a clear and concise style, and following the proposal guidelines accordingly. He highlighted the importance of qualifications of the team, collaborators, and the trustworthiness of the applicant/organization to secure grants.
