A team of five led by Mr. Dhiraj Pradhananga, President of the Small Earth Nepal (SEN) conducted a preliminary field visit to Mulpani and a consultation meeting with the local collaborator, Karesabari Agriculture Cooperative (KAC) and local government of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality on 1 September 2019 for a project “Promoting adoption of Climate-Smart Agriculture practices among female smallholder farmers of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality, Nepal, through integrated training and the establishment of demonstration site and a resource center on Climate-Smart technologies”.
The SEN team, first of all, had a brief meeting with the team members of KAC at Mulpani regarding the responsibilities for the project and in the end, a letter of agreement was prepared and signed by both. SEN team along with team members of KAC visited the farms of local farmers and interacted with the farmers to get ideas regarding the types of vegetables suitable in their areas, challenges faced due to water scarcity and their interests in receiving the training on climate-smart agriculture technologies. The SEN team then visited the Kageshwori Manohara Municipality office where the team interacted with Mr. Krishna Hari Thapa, Mayor, Mr. Prakash Phuyal, Ward President of Ward-6, agriculture officer, health officer and information officer of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality. A short briefing of the project activities and project location was done by the SEN team. The officials also shared their ideas and plans for the improvement of vegetable farming in the project area.
This project is implemented by SEN in collaboration with KAC as a local partner and funded by the Canadian Embassy under the Canadian Fund for Local Initiative (CFLI).
