Strengthening Climate Monitoring in the Himalayas: SEN and Antarikchya Pratisthan Nepal Signed MoU

The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) and Antarikchya Pratisthan Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalizing a collaboration to strengthen climate monitoring in the Himalayas. Communities, researchers, and decision-makers have faced significant challenges due to limited and often unreliable data in remote and high mountain regions in responding to floods, droughts, and changing climatic conditions.

Antarikchya Pratisthan Nepal, an organization recognized for its expertise in space science, river monitoring systems, and AI-based water modelling, will serve as a technical partner to SEN in strengthening climate, hydrometeorological and environmental monitoring, generation and dissemination of data to support climate resilience, water resource planning, and evidence-based decision-making. The collaboration further aims to design, test, and pilot low-cost, locally developed sensors that align with World Meteorological Organization (WMO) standards.
