Meeting with Prof. Dr. Toru Terao

On 25-26 November 2025, Prof. Dr. Toru Terao from Kagawa University, Japan visited The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) to meet the team and further strengthen collaboration under the Asian Monsoon Climate Change Adaptation Network (AMCLAN). AMCLAN is led by Prof. Terao under the JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Core-to-Core ICEDS program. 

The meeting discussed the possibilities for joint collaborations and innovative ideas, and evaluating past and ongoing initiatives in identifying way forward with an emphasis on co-creation and strengthening the role of early and mid-career researchers (EMCR) and professionals. Dr. Terao highlighted his shared interests in weather and water related issue across South Asia and Asian region. The conversations were around the strong connection with the local government and communities of SEN through its 3 pillars: Awareness Advocacy, Research and Capacity Development. The meeting discussed developing new projects and programs together that effectively bridge science and policy. This meeting further reaffirms SEN’s commitment to AMCLAN and its extended regional networks.
