As a new grantee partner of the GEF Small Grants Programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) participated in the Learning Cum Review Workshop held during 13-15 April 2021 in Chitwan. Ms. Aashna Shakya (Senior Research Associate at SEN) presented the working approaches and future strategies of the project. The learning workshop was organized by Integrated Rural Development Centre (IRDC), in cooperation with UNDP, with an objective to share and exchange the ideas of ongoing projects among the grantees, UNDP/GEF/SGP country office, and the National Steering Committee (NSC) members so as to monitor ongoing project activities and furnish with relevant feedback.
SEN, in collaboration with K P Byabasayik Sewa Pvt. Ltd. (KPBS), is implementing the project ‘Waste-to-Energy Program for Indigenous Communities in Karnali Province’ in the Barahtaal Rural Municipality (RM) located in Surkhet District. Based on the concept of Waste-to-Energy, the project addresses the issues of waste management, GHG emissions, and energy recovery through the installation of biogas plants that utilize household kitchen waste, toilet waste along livestock dung as a substrate. Dr.Anusuya Joshi, an adjunct researcher at SEN is leading the project.
