Under the “Building Agroforestry-based Adaptation plans for Resilient floodplains (BAGAR) project”, The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) and Nepal Environmental Research Institute (NERI) conducted land use plan validation workshops in Marin Rural Municipality on 22 December 2025 and Gadhimai Municipality on 26 December 2025 in the presence of Heifer project International Nepal and Forest Action Nepal (FAN). The land use plan presented during the workshops was prepared by SEN with technical support from NERI.
The workshops brought together members of the Municipal-level EbA forums including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Ward Chairs, and Officers from Agriculture and Planning. The technical team presented the land use plan to all the participants, gathered feedback for the validation and endorsement at the local government level. The discussions provided a platform for the participants to review land use plans and align them with local priorities with a focus on floodplain management.
Representatives from the local government perceived positively, appreciated its practicality and relevance, and provided constructive feedback. Gadhimai Municipality formally endorsed the land use plan.
