On 4th June 2024, The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) with Janakpur Engineering College (JEC), Lalitpur organized an in-house training on Climate Modeling by Dr. Ambarish Karmalkar (Assistant Professor, Department of Geosciences, University of Rhode Island, USA). The training was conducted at JEC and facilitated by Dr. Dhiraj Pradhananga (Associate Professor, Tribhuvan University/President, SEN). Total of 15 participants from undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students attended the training. Dr. Karmalkar delivered a presentation on climate modeling and followed by group work and discussion sessions. He talked about Global Climate Models (GCM) and Earth System Models (ESM) and their importance and reliability. Participants of the training learned about the model selection based on specific regions and parameters of interest, bias correction methods and model outputs in particular.
