Fulbright Specialist Dr. Nir Krakauer in Nepal

The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) is hosting the Fulbright Specialist Dr. Nir Krakauer in 2025. He is an Associate Professor at The City College of New York, USA. He arrived in Nepal on 3rd February and will stay till 27th February for his first visit and he will have his second visit in March. The Fulbright Specialist Program aims to capacitate and empower Graduate Students, and Early Career Professionals through training and workshops. This year, training will focus on climate change modeling, and precipitation data analysis in particular. Dr. Nir studied Earth’s water and carbon cycles, particularly the effects of global warming and human impacts. He is currently working on monitoring water resources, droughts, and floods from earth-observing satellites and on improving forecasts using machine learning as part of NOAA-CESSRST, for which he has served as Acting Distinguished Research Scientist.
