BACKGROUND
The Small Earth Nepal stands as a distinguished non-governmental organization (NGO)
dedicated to promoting sustainable lifestyles and reducing Nepal’s global footprint. Since its
inception in March 2001, SEN has been committed to advancing sustainable development and
fostering choices that bolster system resilience.
SEN emphasizes research and effective science communication initiatives, spanning from grassroots school-level engagement to high-level policy discussions. Serving as a vital bridge between the public and private sectors, academia, and government agencies, SEN facilitates collaborative efforts in research, capacity building, awareness raising, and advocacy.
Mission
To harmonize human-environment interactions through innovative research, policy influence,
and tangible transformations in diverse lives.

world.”
Goal
To advance sustainable lifestyles by fostering education and advocating activities that mitigate negative environmental impacts. A particular focus is on inspiring youth and students, achieved through diverse initiatives under its Students-Teachers-Scientists-Community (STSC) network.
What we do
SEN employs a multifaceted and inclusive approach to advocacy. Our efforts extend beyond creating impactful programs within Nepal; we also cultivate collaborations and networking with organizations and researchers across the region and the globe. Our ultimate aim is to realize our vision of harmonious human-environment interactions through sustainable practices.
Our Three Pillars
- Research : SEN engages in comprehensive multidisciplinary research projects,
with a special focus on sectors pivotal to environmental change such as
biodiversity loss, climate dynamics, hydrology, agriculture, livestock, and
hydroclimatic data and information. - Capacity Building : SEN empowers students, early career professionals, and
communities by facilitating capacity-building activities, including training
sessions, workshops, and conferences. Our aim is to enhance knowledge and
skills within these groups for a more sustainable future. - Awareness and Advocacy : SEN actively promotes sustainable lifestyles
