The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) installed forty floating rafts in Nagdaha during December 2022 under the “Floating Treatment Wetland System (FTWS)” project supported by Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN). This was a field research of the FTWS rafts in order to study their effectiveness in removing water pollutants in the lake. These floating rafts were prepared with a bamboo frame, styrofoam layers, and bamboo matting, which function as an artificial environment-friendly pollutants remediation technology. Two plants namely Salvia splenden and Canna indica were used in the rafts, but Salvia splendens wilted and did not survive due to seasonal factors. In order to maintain the rafts in the lake and continue its function of pollutants remediating process effectively, SEN re-planted 600 plants (300 Salvia splenden and 300 Canna plants) in 31 rafts during 10-17 October 2023, with the support of youth club members of Nagdaha.
