The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) celebrated this year’s World Environment Day on June 5 by organizing awareness programs for environmental conservation with the five eco clubs of Sunkuda Secondary School, and Deveswori Secondary School, Deulekh in Bitthadchir Rural Municipality of Bajhang and Saraswoti Secondary School, Khaptad Chhedadaha Rural Municipality, Thuma Secondary School, and Pashupati Secondary School, Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura districts. These eco clubs were formed by SEN under the Landslide Environmental Virtual Observatories (LEVO) project. The two eco clubs of Bajhang organized awareness rallies, clean-up campaigns at school premises and nearby markets, and speech competitions whereas the three eco clubs of Bajura organized quiz competitions and awareness campaigns based on this year’s theme “Beat plastic pollution”. These programs helped increase the awareness of the students, teachers, and local people of that locality on plastic pollution and their role in addressing them. Hundreds of students, teachers, and local people of Bajhang and Bajura were involved in those activities organized by eco clubs of two districts.
