National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, Orissa, India
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Institute of Technology (NIT) the ISM was organized at Rourkela, Orissa from 11 to 13 March 2011. NIT is formerly known as the Regional Engineering College (REC) which is one of the top premier national level institutions for technical education in India established in 1961.
Various types Activities carried out from 11 to 13 March which is listed as:
11 March-The program began with the welcome video followed by paper presentation after the key note address from Dr. Bhanu Raj Neupane (UNESCO-New Delhi). Different speakers from the organizing committee presented their insights about the program and the institution. Ms. Sumnima Shrestha (DISVI Nepal) gave presentation on “Climate Change, Reproductive Health and Aid Environment” and Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi (IAAS Chitwan) presented on “Climate change and Himalayan water resources”. They were successful to achieve the second position in the presentation competition. Similarly Ms. Kanchan Ojha (EGH) gave presentation on “Climate change and water”. Various types of activities were conducted during this period .
12 March- The second day programme started with participation in mock UN. It was focused on the recent Tsunami occurred in Japan on 11 March 2011. Different country members play the roles of different countries. The students from NIT played the role of Japan and the team members of Nepal viz Mr. Dhiraj Pradhananga (SEN), Ms. Muna Thapa (GGIC) and Mr. Sumnima Shrestha played the role of South Korea and won the first and second position respectively. Similarly Mr. Bibhisan C. Rai (GGIC) and Ms. Kanchan Ojha played the role of China.
13 March- At the last day of ISM, the heralded aquatic events was organized. Mr. Arjun K.C (CDES) and Mr. Arun Prasad Bhattarai (Rotract Nepal) were participated in that event. Similarly, the interactive session was conducted by the organizers in which feedbacks of the whole event were collected from all the participants. The closing ceremony was closed with the distribution of certificates to the participants and prize to the winners. We also gave the gifts to the organizers which promotes Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
