The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) and Mandavi Rautahat with support from ICIMOD convened two stakeholders’ consultation workshops: Nijgadh and Hetauda on 27th and 28th April 2026, respectively. As part of the development of the Integrated Watershed Management Plan for Lal Bakaiya Watershed led by SEN, the workshops gathered local stakeholders: representatives of the local governments and government agencies from forest, agriculture, watershed and shared preliminary results and findings of analysis made so far and discussed.
Chaired by the Mayor of Nijgadh Municipality, Mr. Surath Puri the workshop at Nijadh covered the representatives from the wards of Nijgadh and Kolhabi Municipalities in Bara district; Phatuwa Bijaypur and Gujara Municipalities in Rautahat District whereas Chaired by Chairperson of the Bakaiya Rural Municipality, Mr. Dharmaraj Lamichhane workshop at Hetauda covered the representatives from the wards of Bakaiya and Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipalities and Hetauda Submetropolitan City in Makawanpur district. The workshops came up with details of priority and recommended activities for the watershed plan after the rigorous group work amongst the participants. They realized the plan is important for them in the changing context of too much and too little water and their associated issues.
