Developing Capacity of Future Meteorologists – Climate Data Analysis Training (Phase – I)

The first phase of the Climate Data Analysis Training was conducted from 1-4 February 2026 at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus, Kathmandu, as a pre-event of the Nepal National Glacier, Water, and Weather Week (NNGWWW-2026). The training was organized for the bachelor’s degree fourth-year Meteorology students (10 students-F:6 and M:4).

The training was jointly led by the technical team from The Small Earth Nepal (SEN): Ms. Reshu Karki and Ms. Aakriti Dhakal, Ms. Susa Manandhar, Ms. Bandana Koirala, and Mr. Kumar Aryal. The main objective of the training was to strengthen students’ foundational understanding of climate data and essential tools and methods for handling and analyzing them.

The training included technical presentations and hands-on sessions covering the fundamentals of climate data, key data sources, and data formats. Participants were guided through a step-by-step workflow, downloading, preprocessing, and analysis of extracted datasets. The interactive sessions provided practical exposure, enabling the participants to build essential skills in handling real-world climate data. Participants completed a practical assignment to select, download, and perform basic analysis of the climate data. The training concluded with an interactive discussion on further enhancing their practical skills, future learning pathways, and continuation of similar training programs.

The second phase of the Climate Data Analysis Training will be conducted at the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus.
